This Week in My Kitchen

I love the blog Beauty That Moves and have been reading and enjoying her photos for a few years. I am joining Heather in her Kitchen Blog Hop.

So here is this week in My Kitchen:

Blueberry pancakes with raspberry sauce. I thought it would be a bit of a berry overkill, but that is what they wanted and it was very tasty.

I finally made garlic scape pesto. It was very good. Not too garlicky. I added shrimp, which was perfect.

More bread. These loaves are whole wheat. I used molasses for a touch of sweetener. These are great loaves for sandwiches.

There was a lot of cooking in the kitchen this week including pies and stuffed peppers, but sadly the camera did not come out as often as it should have.

  3. Your bread looks so amazing! Do you happen to have a favorite cookbook for bread?

    1. I have many cookbooks and have used them often, but I have favorite bread recipes that I keep using since they work so well. I use the King Arthur 100% whole wheat bread recipe which I found online and I use the No Knead Crusty Bread recipe that I got online on the Mother Earth News site. Sometimes I try other breads like oatmeal or french, but the whole wheat and crusty are our favorites.

  4. Blueberries pancakes look so good... yum yum!! And also your bread. Have you ever tryed "pesto alla genovese"? It is made with basil leaves, olive oil, parmesan, garlic and pine nuts, it's a must during italian summer, here in Genoa!!

    1. Yes I have tried the pesto alla genovese. I like it without the pine nuts though. They are a bit pricey here. We have substituted sunflower seeds before, but mostly we just go without nuts. It is just as good.

  5. and don't you love the way the house smells when the bread is baking????? (i admit.....sometimes I make bread just for the homey smell!!!!) Yours looks yummy. (my favorite is a challah recipe I got in a cookbook that came free with some laundry detergent a million years ago....!!!!! crazy where you find the treasures!)
